Chapter XX

When [Geser] was back home
There was this:
[His] son Oshor Bogdo
Having seen him
Through the golden and silver window

Said: “Our father has come back!”
And rushed out of the house,
Opened the fence of brown stone –
It clattered;
Opened the gate of black stone –

It roared.
Supporting helped the father dismount.
And then
The good racer
Of his father

He tied up to the tethering post
Decorated with silver patterns.
[And then] again ran up
To his father
And supporting him under his right elbow

Walked together with him
Up  the golden and silver porch.
They entered [the palace].
Sankhan Gokhon-beauty
Met them with a happy smile:

“Whom are you bringing
Supporting under the arms,
Is it that you managed to find him alive?”
She said.
He answered:

“Mother, mother, this is what I say:
Who has the mother
Is equal the great mystery;
Who has the father
Is equal the powerful mystery!”

Oshor Bogdo, their son
Said the right word with a joyous joke. -
Thus they usually say.
On the silver decorated table
They put the best dishes.

On the shining silver table
They put tea and other drinks.
From seventy tasty meals
They put the tastiest,
They ate and drank

Talking of  various things.
On the surface of pure water
Foam appeared - so long they were talking,
On the surface of flat stone
Grass grew - so long they were talking.

They had a talk recollecting
What had happened before;
They talked bringing back memories
Of what had ocurred before.
Then the soft afterglow became like yellow leaves,

On their bed, soft and fluffy,
They lay down,
On their soft otter cushion
They fell sound asleep,
On their soft sable cushion

They fell fast asleep.
That is how it was.

When the next morning the bright sun
Had shown its half and the other half hadn’t shown itself,
[Geser] got up quickly,

Washed
His face and hands
With a barrel of water.
On the silver decorated table
They put meals,

On the shining silver table
They put tea and other drinks,
They had meals and talked.
“Five long years have passed
Since I went to see

The far-off corners of my land, -
[Geser] said the right word. -
Well, five years have passed.
I did not leave alive upon the Earth
A single louse - I have caught all.

There were enemies that were more dangerous
Than Atai Ulan heaven! -
[Geser] went on. -
Since from the Sky
I threw Atai Ulan heaven,

Since I was born [on the Earth] by the mother
I have been fighting for  the whole of my life!”
Thus he told of himself.
He rose from the table
And said with a smile:

“I had
The mother of sixty years
And the father of seventy years, didn’t I?
I will go and see them.
They might be thinking: “Do we have a son?”

Or perhaps they are thinking: “Don’t we have a son?”
The right word
[Geser] said and added:
“I will go to my father and mother”.
[Geser] rose

And went  out.
His mother and father
Were living as before
Without knowing  anything of their son.
Entering [Geser thought]:
